Just a pair of rat ogres and a handful of Clanrats/Skavenslaves. I'm not that happy with the paint job but I am happy with the overall army's esthetic . I'll be able to target paint some of the more exciting elements of the army now and to that effect; next up are 10 plague monks and a pair of plague censer bearers which will actually finish a unit (gasp!)
Looking Good! Some serious Rat Goodness going on here.
ReplyDeleteYou are too kind sir. They are not remotely close to parity with your work but, in a swarm of 200 I think the overall effect will shine through. Your basing effect goes a long long way towards making them passable.
DeleteExcellent work, I like the mix of fur colours on the Rat Ogres and the base of the one at the back. The Clanrats look good as well, dull colours but brightly done without being gaudy.
ReplyDeleteHey thanks man. I tried to break up the monotony of an all brown skaven clan but adding the red and grey rats has taken a chunk out of my painting time. I am happy with the effect of the non-monochromatic fur, the army painter sprays has really helped out though, they are a real time saver. All of my brush paints are vallejo model or game colour, the are the bees knees at least for me. Once near completion I will be using some blotch pattern and some stripes a la Kelly in WA.
DeleteMore exciting than those rat ogres?! I love those models and have an unarmed one ready for my 2nd Ed. bloodbowl team. One day I might even paint it :)
ReplyDeleteBelieve me after batch painting 60 Clanrats and Skavenslaves a rat ogre or two is a more than welcome change. If you are serious about adding a rat ogre to your bloodbowl team I did a conversion years ago with one holding a Gobbo by the scruff of the uniform with his head up over the knuckles. I was proud of it until some shithead at GW stole the figure. Good luck with the skaven
DeleteLoving your work Ratbro!
ReplyDeleteSoon you'll have a Horde and no mistake =)
Played any games with them yet?
Cheers my verminous friend. I played skaven a great deal in fourth and fifth ed and thought they were awesome.
DeleteSo far my skaven in third have only engaged in skirmish games. My regular opponent made up a map of the border princes. We made up 225 point forces and each campaign turn would invade a new territory. We got 50pts for playing, 25 for winning, 25 for killing the enemy general and 25 for wiping out your opponent to a man. Casualties were lost permanently on a D6 4+ after the game and characters were lost on a D6 roll of 1. It was really enjoyable for a while. I'm more interested in playing a 3K game.
Sounds like a good campaign though, I may have to give it a try. 3K with Skaven in 3rd, for me? There's nothing better!
